British Twelfth Night with The Early Interval

A warm treat in the dark and dreary winter, our resident Early Music ensemble, “The Early Interval,” took us on a trip to Britain for our traditional Twelfth Night Concert held this year on January 3 & 4, 2015. The neo-Gothic splendor of the First Congregational Church provided perfect backdrop and acoustics for medieval carols, the music of William Byrd, and music for a consort of viols by John Dowland and other composers, among other arrangements.

Ayreheart

Co-presented by the Columbus Guitar Society and featuring founder and Grammy nominee Ronn McFarlane, Ayreheart treated us with historical music from the British Isles on February 6 . The concert, performed at Mees Hall on Capital University’s campus, featured two lutes, voice, colascione, and percussion.

Mees Hall

This historic performance hall located on the campus of Capital University was constructed in 1926 and was fully renovated in 1992. It is named for Rev. Dr. Otto Mees, who served as president of Capital from 1912-1946.

This historic church located at 444 East Broad Street in Downtown Columbus was built in 1852 and still welcomes a vibrant and active faith congregation.
