Experience the world of Queen Elizabeth I and William Shakespeare through the music of the time. The concert includes popular continental favorites—French courtly ayres and Italian dances, as well as traditional Appalachian ballads rooted in the British Isles. Works of John Dowland, Thomas Campion, Pierre de Ronsard, Clément Janequin, Shakespeare himself, and the always fascinating “Anonymous.”
“…superb musicianship...achieved with the ease, fluidity and flawless skill long taken for granted for string quartets and other "modern" chamber ensembles.” (Houston Chronicle)
Founded in 1980, The Baltimore Consort specializes in music from the time of Shakespeare. They perform as a full ensemble as well as in smaller chamber groups such as the trio appearing on our series.
This video represents the full Baltimore Consort ensemble. The members of the trio coming to Columbus are among the performers.
