Harmonie
In the time of Mozart, a Harmonie was a group of wind players, typically an octet, employed by aristocratic patrons to provide outdoor entertainment and serve as the wind section of the court orchestra. Much loved by the public, Harmoniemusik for these ensembles included original compositions and arrangements of popular opera arias.
Les Délices artistic director Debra Nagy has pulled together North America’s finest period-instrument woodwind players for an all-Mozart program that includes selections from The Magic Flute and Don Giovanni plus Mozart’s transcendent Serenade in C minor, K388.
